Have you ever anticipated something desperately? Sometimes it's big things like moving, vacation, babies. Sometimes it's little things like the chocolate cake baking in the oven or a great book. The Sunken Realm is on of those anticipated moments! But first, some back story.
I love to read....to the point of obsessiveness. It's my downtime. I'm not too big on movies. We don't have cable, but I've always loved a good book (maybe that's why I ended up with a creative writing degree!) So last year I was looking for something new to read and stumbled across author Serena Chase's series Eyes of E'veria. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. There are some great Christian inspirational books out there and there are some that just get you through to feed your reading fix. I got the first book in the series, The Ryn, during a free stint on Kindle and figured, can't go wrong...it's free! I tell you what, I read that baby in a day and a half (I was pregnant and quite large), immediately bought the next two in the series, The Remedy and The Seahorse Legacy. They were all devoured by the end of the week and I was left with wanting more! I emailed Serena to see when The Sunken Realm would be releasing and was horrified and put in a depression spin (ok a little dramatic) when I found out I would be waiting a year! A whole year to see how the story would end!!!! Aaah Cobeld's beard!!! How in the world was I going to survive?! I'll tell you how...I read the whole series over again and twiddled my thumbs impatiently while I waited for the news of it's release. That day is finally approaching, and I'm like a little girl at Christmas.
Serena is such a whiz at blending adventure with love and a knowledge and relationship with God. Each book satisfied my desire to fall into the setting and be within the characters' skin, while giving me an element of faith that was not preachy or forced. The books are listed as Young Adult, but honestly, I found them more engaging and well written than most adult novels written nowadays. They are a clean read that will have you biting your nails with nervousness, laughing out loud at the wittiness and falling in love.
In honor of Talk Like A Pirate Day on September 19th, Serena has a great giveaway happening and a killer deal on the first three books in the series. I encourage you to head over here to enter into a drawing to win a Kindle Fire and the first three books of the Eyes of E'veria series AND a pre-release copy of The Sunken Realm!!!! I may just faint! If you don't win the drawing on the 19th, head over to Amazon.com and purchase the books for a steal at $2.99 each!

This could be on the record as my shortest post to date, but I wanted to share the specialness of this week with you!!! My parents, Rodney and Sharie Prow, and Stretch's brother, Scott Blackard, came up from Colorado for a special visit. Not only do they get to celebrate our Little t turning six, but they get to help with the house and, hopefully, get a moose or caribou or bear while hunting the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. Here's to great memories and the love of family!
Until next time....have a blessed and manic one!
